English Cathedral Clock

Made by Edward Dent and Sons, London, England 1860.
A fine clock designed in Gothic style, with a walnut case and an engraved brass plate surrounding the face.

The Novelty Clock Wall

A favourite part of the museum for children and parents alike with novelty  clocks, figures on swings and springs, weather clocks, Disney clocks and novelty alarm clocks that crow, bark and play  ‘rock ‘n roll!’

The Vienna Regulator

Made in Austria , c1870, a clock of high quality and precision. This is a true Vienna Regulator, now a rare item.

Automatic Memorandum clock

An English mantel clock from 1890. An ivorine chip with a written memo and placed in the time slot would appear in the space below at the chosen time.

Grandfather Clock

A long case clock made by John Rodgers, London, England, 1847
Known as ’The Rodgers of Paddington Clock,’ it was brought to Whangarei  in 1868 by the clock maker’s brother and became part of the family heritage.

The Komet Music Box

The Komet, also known as the Giant Komet,  made by Weissbach & Co, Leipzig, Germany in 1890, is one of our special exhibits. It is operated by a main spring tripped by a halfpenny placed in a slot. This releases the mechanism to play a tune by revolving a 60cm disc.
